A MAN has admitted attempting to enter a licensed premises by force despite being intoxicated and behaving in a threateningly towards others.

Gary Shearer, of Sunnyside Cottages, Culzean Castle Country Park in Maybole pled guilty to shouting and swearing on November 22, 2015 on Prestwick's Main Street where he tried to force entry into the licensed building.

He further pled guilty to obstructing police officers on duty by struggling violently with them and head butting him to the head on the same night.

Shearer, appeared before Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart on Wednesday, April 13 where he admitted to these charged but adhered to his plea of not guilty to being in possession of cocaine and cannabis at Ayr Police Office on November 22, 2015.

Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor, Craig Pettigrew, said: "He does have a record of serious offences since 2008."

Sheriff MacTaggart was handed a list of Shearer's previous convictions. She said: "Mr Shearer, because of the charges made against you and the charges you have pled guilty to means that I am going to need more information about your back ground and history.

"I will release you on bail and continue your bail where the same conditions means that you must comply."

The court adjourned has adjourned the diet for the time being.
