BUS certain services in Girvan and Kirkconnel will no longer run on Sundays or after 6pm from Monday to Saturday.

It is understood the decision has been made by 'Swestrans' who will choose what bus links will get the axe in Dumfries and Galloway and includes Girvan and Kirkconnel.

The board have decided to stop services between Stranraer and Newton Stewart after 6pm Monday to Sunday and reduce the number of buses which run in Dumfries Town Centre.

There will be no services between Stranraer and Portpartick, Sanquhar and Kirkconnel, Thornhill, Moniaive and Dumfries, Moffat and Dumfries on Sundays and after 6pm Monday to Saturday.

Services between Lockerbie and Annan, Newton Stewart and Girvan, Dumfries and Glencaple, Dumfries and Lockerbie and Dumfries and Carlisle on Sundays will also be stopped.

But, there will be no changes to services between Dumfries and Kirkcudbright, Stranraer and Portpatrick, Sanquhar and Kirkconnel, Lockerbie and Carlisle and Annan and Dumfries.

Decisions on two other services have been postponed until May.
