A BULLY who tried to take a mobile phone from a teen has been given 12 months detention.
Francis Kearney, 19, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week after assaulting two teens near Maybole train station.
On March 30 2015, two boys aged 17 were on the train to Maybole. Kearney was at the station and followed the teens out on to Culzean Road.
Kearney approached one of them and asked for a lighter.
Kearney then asked one of the boys if they had a phone before punched him on the nose.
The two boys then walked away down Culzean Road and Kearney again followed them.
The thug ran up and punched one of the boys on the head causing him to fall and suffer a cut above his right eye.
Sheriff John Montgomery sentenced Kearney to 12 months in a young offenders institution.
