CASH-strapped South Ayrshire Council don't have enough money to update the Walker Hall's 1933 kitchen, despite spending millions on the building's renovation.

During last year's budget slashings, council chiefs cut back on a number of local projects but promised a £3million upgrade for Troon's Walker Hall.

Despite this spending pledge council chiefs now claim they don't have any money to modernise the run-down kitchen, which was originally installed over seven decades ago.

Speaking about the cash flow problems, Troon resident and Councillor Nan McFarlane said: "I was disappointed to find that they don't have enough budget to refurbish the kitchen which is 1933 original kitchen.

"On May 6 about 3,000 to 4,000 people will be coming to Troon for the 10k race and heading to the Walker Hall and Town Hall."
